SPEAKER – The phageome: A key element of the microbiome and a source of novel therapeutics
15 February @ 09.05
Lorraine’s research began with characterisation of bacteriocins, specialising in molecular characterisation and novel application of these potent antimicrobials. Following this, Lorraine began investigating the role of bacteriophages in gut health and disease, subsequently taking the lead project manager role in APC Microbiome Ireland’s Gut Phageomics Spoke at University College Cork, Ireland. This is a research initiative investigating the bacteriophages of the microbiome and their potential role as therapeutics.
