Dr Cormac Gahan

Principal Investigator, APC Microbiome Ireland

Cormac graduated in 1996 with a PhD in Immunology and Microbiology from University College Cork. He has since published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters in journals including PNAS, Molecular Microbiology, Infection and Immunity, Vaccine and Journal of Bacteriology. He has a significant research interest in microbiome-mediated colonization resistance and microbe-host interactions that influence anti-microbial immunity in the gut. In particular, his research interests focus upon mechanisms of host-microbe signalling in the gut and the influence of such mechanisms on the pathogenesis of foodborne pathogens including Listeria monocytogenes.
